REGULAR BAPTIST CHURCH OF SMETHPORT. PA. A SHORTENED STATEMENT OF OUR DOCTRINAL POSITION

We believe in the verbal, plenary, inspiration and thus infallibility of Scripture. We Believe the Word of God has been divinely preserved.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons - the Father,Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus Christ is eternal and was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of Mary, A virgin.Jesus is truly God and truly man.

We believe man was created in the image of God. Man sinned, thereby incurring not only physical but spiritual death as well. And that he could do nothing in himself to change or alter that condition.

We believe Jesus Christ died for our sins as our representative and substitutionary sacrifice for all who believe on Jesus with sorrow and repentance and receive Him, are declared just on the grounds of His shed blood.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus, in His ascension into heaven, and in His presence there as our Great High Priest and Advocate. We believe in the Premillennial, Pretribulation, and imminent return of Jesus Christ.

We believe all who receive by faith, Jesus Christ as personal Savior, are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become the children of God.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just unto everlasting life and in the resurrection of the lost unto everlasting punishment in Hell.

We believe the local church, consisting of born-again, baptized believers, having Christ as its only head, was instituted by God and commissioned by Him to evangelize the World.

We believe Scriptural baptism is the immersion of born again people only; that it is the Outward sign of an inward belief. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only ordinances Commanded to be observed by the local Church
